The Veeam team at Workgroup has announced the local availability of Veeam’s Backup and Replication, which is one of the first to support replication to the paid or licensed version of VMware ESXi. VMware ESXI represents an innovative platform for virtualisation, says Garron Dace, product manager: Veeam at Workgroup. It is secure, easy to manage, has a small footprint and the installation is completely stateless, so it doesn’t rely on the presence of a local disk. “It is due to these factors that more of our customers are adopting ESXi and why Veeam have delivered data protection and disaster recovery capabilities to support it,” he says. “By standardising on the ESXi platform, enterprises experience lower management costs, while still achieving desired recovery points and time objectives with Backup & Replication 4.1.” ESXi is being viewed as the next progression in virtualisation, says Dace. “It is thinner, installs quicker, and boots faster than ESX. It can perform all the same enterprise feature that ESX can and, with supporting applications and tools by third party companies, such as Veeam, ESXi will become even more valuable to enterprises and small businesses alike.” |
